This is going to be a short and sweet one today (pun intended)! Sneaking in right before the end of the year with two classic desserts for your NYE festivities: panna cotta with cherry compote and a classic grand tiramisu (aka: multi-layered!).
I know many of you are here for pasta (and I do promise to get back to that in the new year), but there is something about desserts that are so festive and apt for this time of year, don’t you think?
Anyway, let me break it down before sending you to the recipes.
The Crowd Pleaser
aka The Grand Tiramisu.
What is it? A classic tiramisu but served in a trifle dish and featuring about 5-6 layers of Savoiardi biscuits. Decadent, feeds a lot of people and an easy, make-ahead option.
Why should you make it? Duh, it’s a tiramisu. But in all seriousness, the visual aspect of the cross sections of the tiramisu is quite a delight to look at and will guarantee to be a winner at any event.
The Date Night Dessert
aka Panna Cotta with Cherry Compote.
What is it? Vanilla-spiked panna cotta, creamy in texture, not too sweet with a perfect wobble.
Why should you make it? So simple, so easy. Another make-ahead dessert option and looks divine with that deeply rich and glossy cherry compote served atop!
Happy New Year, spaghetti friends!
